DENTAL NURSE SUCCESSES

SUCCESSFUL DENTAL NURSES

SmileWisdom Alumni celebrates Jadine

Meet Jadine who turned her life around by training to become a dental nurse.

Out of all the wonderful SmileWisdom Success Stories, Jadine’s has to be one of our favourites. Read on to find out how Jadine went from finding herself homeless to becoming a successful and inspiring dental nurse.

Prior to starting her training with SmileWisdom, Jadine was homeless and living in a hostel in South London after experiencing some difficult times in her life. It was a charity called Beam that would help her to see the light again and enable her to start a new life. Beam work with homeless people to help them find their feet, empowering them to find the skills they need to be able to get a job and change their future for the better.

It was at one of Jadine’s sessions with her support worker that she discussed working in the dental industry having been inspired by smile transformation stories on Instagram and wanting to help people in this way. Jadine’s support worker pointed her in the direction of Beam and to her surprise within just one month her training fees to become a dental nurse, study books and a laptop were fully funded!

SmileWisdom were so helpful from beginning to end. If I needed any support one of the staff members would reply back instantly with a solution. Liz, in particular, was fantastic, she 100% believes in you.

After starting her training with SmileWisdom, Jadine found a trainee dental job straight away in February 2020 but unfortunately due to the pandemic her job there ended the following month. Happily, Jadine found another position in September of the same year and she’s been with London Road Dental Centre ever since, becoming a fully qualified dental nurse in November 2021.

Her journey with SmileWisdom is one she remembers fondly, “They were so helpful from beginning to end. If I needed any support one of the staff members would reply back instantly with a solution. Liz in particular was fantastic, she 100% believes in you and convinces you that you’re good at what you do, she’s so motivating and funny!”

For Jadine, becoming a dental nurse has changed so many aspects of her life – from helping her to gain trust in people and making lovely friends on the course to building her confidence through training and working in practice.

Jadine is so passionate about her dental journey that there’s no stopping her now. One day she would love to progress into a hygienist or dentist role. We look forward to chatting to her again when she reaches her next goal!

“I’ve never stuck to anything before in my life and I’m so consistent with this. I’m like a new person, I’m so proud of myself!”

Beam is an incredible charity that works tirelessly to give homeless people a career, pride and true independence. People like Jadine have so much potential but sometimes financial barriers can make life impossible for them. With the support of Beam those barriers can be removed.
